Hi,
By default, Windows provides the option to format a USB flash drive with FAT or FAT32 file systems only, but not with NTFS (New TechnologyFile System.)
The reason behind this is that there are some disadvantages of NTFS usage in this case. First of all, the speed of saving on the flash drive decreases (but the speed of reading data from the drive is the same), and you have to be more careful to always remove the USB flash drive safely.
However, you can still format the Flash Drive in the NTFS format. Follow these steps for the same.
1.Insert the USB flash drive into the USB port.
2.Click Start, type devmgmt.msc in the Search textbox and press Enter.
3.Find Disk Drives and expand it.
4.Find the USB flash drive you want to format, and double-click it. It opens the Properties dialog box.
5.Click Policies tab.
6.By default, the Optimize for quick removal option selected, switch it to Optimize for performance and then pressOK.
7.Now open Computer. Right click on the USB Flash Drive and select Format. The Format dialog box now appears.
8.Select NTFS in the File System field.
9.Press Start and wait while the process will be completed.
10.Now your USB Flash Drive is formatted with NTFS format.

exFAT format in Windows 10
When you format a partition or drive in Windows 10, there are three types of filesystem you won’t be unfamiliar, NTFS, FAT32 and exFAT. NTFS, a modern file system,is used in system drive by default due to its advanced features what benefit systemrunning. FAT32 is most compatible file system format that can be read-and-write inmany different operating systems.
Why not format drive to FAT32and settle troubles once and for all? That is because FAT32 has inherentlimitations, maximum 4GB in size for single file and maximum 8TB in size for singlepartition or volume. Under such condition, exFAT comes into being.
exFAT integrates the advantages of FAT32 and NTFS. That is to say, you can use yourexternal drive or USB flash drive on other operating systems and have no restrictionin file size and partition size. It has lower compatibility compared with FAT32, yetstrong enough for common use.
When format exFAT on Windows 10?
Usually, when you plug a removable device in Windows 10 for the first time, it wouldformat that device to NTFS by default. However, sometimes, we need exFAT format inWindows 10.
For example, you have created and stored files on NTFS-formatted flash drive inWindows 10. One day, you want to share that data with your friend who owns a machinewith Mac OS. Your USB drive will be read-only on OS X. On the contrary, thepartition created by your friend’s Mac OS with HFS+ formatted won’t even be read byWindows 10. Really inconvenient!
For example, again, you have a game file larger than 4GB stored on your externaldrive with NTFS-formatted because FAT32 does not recognize file larger than 4GB ascovered. Now you want it connected with PlayStation 4 (PS4) to read it. What shouldyou do since PS4 only reads FAT32 and exFAT? Guess you want Windows 10 to formatexternal drive exFAT before you store files.
